On February 10, 2026, Dr. Inamasu of Embrapa Instrumentação, the Brazilian counterpart for CoPADi, gave a presentation on the development and outlook of the CoPADi API (an API for data integration developed within Embrapa's digital platform, AgroAPI) at Show Rural Coopavel*, one of Brazil's leading agricultural shows.
Approximately 20 people, primarily researchers, attended the event. A panel discussion was also held, featuring a lively debate regarding the current status and future prospects of precision and digital agriculture, joined by professors from the Federal University of Technology – Paraná (UTFPR) and the State University of Western Paraná (Unioeste). The main points discussed were as follows:
While AI is being actively introduced and developed in the agricultural sector, it is important not to rely solely on it; direct management by humans remains crucial.
To achieve better precision agriculture, a large amount of data is required. However, simply having a large volume of data is insufficient; the quality of the data is also important.
With the progress of precision agriculture, the meteorological sector has become vital for agriculture, enabling more accurate weather forecasts and the implementation of necessary measures. Currently, however, weather forecasting remains very unstable.
Additionally, regarding "CIA-Agro – Módulo Paraná"—a project linked to CoPADi that will succeed its activities after CoPADi concludes (scheduled for completion in May 2026)—the Araucária Foundation officially decided to invest 2.1 million Reais.
Stakeholders signed a cooperation agreement to mark this occasion. Specifically, this is a pilot project that involves installing sensors and telemetry in approximately 20 farms within the state and conducting data analysis using AI. It will be implemented over the next 27 months in collaboration with a wide range of partners, including the State University of Londrina (UEL), UTFPR, IDR-Paraná, and the Integrada Cooperative, with the aim of disseminating technology to small and medium-sized producers.

*What is Show Rural Coopavel:
This is one of the largest agricultural technology trade fairs in Latin America, held in the state of Paraná, Brazil. It brings together innovations such as the latest agricultural machinery, crop improvement, and cultivation know-how. It is a major event attracting attention from agribusiness stakeholders worldwide aiming to improve productivity.
**What is CIA-Agro:
This refers to the "Center for Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture" located at the State University of Londrina (UEL). It is a state science and technology network (NAPI) that connects researchers with agricultural sites, centering on AI and data utilization technologies to address challenges and improve productivity.
