Toledo received a Japanese delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) to understand precision agricultural practices applied in family properties in the last sunday (09/28). The visitors were recevied by Luiz Carlos Bombardelli, secretary of Agriculture and Animal Protein, e Daliana Uemura, director of Agricultural Development and Supply, which accompanied the whole visit.
The delegation met the Angst family property, represented by Emilio, Maria and Lucas, which showed them the integrated model of milk and suines production; rural tourism; solar energy and biogas.
Daliana highlighted that the delegation was very impressed by the familiar production and the work organization, also highlighting the capacity of a big production with limited resources. According to the director: "they were very surprised when seeing how we can integrate milk, suines, solar energy and biogas production".
Precision Agriculture - Daliana added that the visit made possible the knowledge exchange on "property management, energety efficiency and precision agriculture, besides opening opportunities for partnerships and international investments on the municipality".
She explained that the precision agriculture goes beyond the cutting-edge technology or sattelite use. "It is also about working with data collection, computing usage, artificial intelligence, everything to collect data and know how to better use them, and with better management of the rural property", completed Daliana.
Solutions - During the visit, the japanese delegation showed technological and management solutions for challenges faced by rural production, specially in the animal protein chain. Ways to optimize waste management, carcass disposal, and energy efficiency were discussed, offering practical alternatives that can be applied on family farms in Toledo.
For Daliana, the visit could still bear fruit for Toledo. She explained that before Japan invests in Brazil, it consults with the JICA team. “We would talk about the problems and difficulties, and they would already be coming up with solutions. It was very interesting because they had a few possible solutions for every problem,” she said.
The following individuals participated in the visit: Mr. Shohei Kashiwagi, Senior Representative of JICA in Brazil; Mr. Sota Koide, Deputy Director of Economic Development at JICA in Tokyo; Mr. Nobuyuki Kimura, Senior Coordinator at JICA in Brazil; Danielle Nishitani, Innovation Consultant; Dr. Sakae Shibusawa, Professor at Tokyo University; Mr. Hideki Hiroshige, consultant at Oriental Global Consulting; Mr. Shuhei Okada, director at Vision Tech; Mr. Ryo Matsumoto and Mr. Alberto Tihiro Suzuki, translators; Mr. Yasuyuki Hamada, representative at Agribuss; and researchers at Embrapa São Carlos: Dr. Ricardo Inamasu, Dr. João Naime, and Dr. Eduardo Speranza.
